Makro Foundation (MaFo) has organized a 2 K Depression Prevention Walk on 10th September 2012 to mark the World Suicide Prevention Day. The theme Makro Foundation has adopted is  "Beat Depression – Talk About It” -Suicide Prevention across the Globe" . The objective is to raise Awareness across the Globe and Encourage People to Adopt Help Seeking behavior and Prevent Death through Suicide
The Objective of the Walk :

• To show solidarity for people affected by Suicide
• Support the case Suicide Prevention
• Generate awareness that Mental Illness is Treatable

Rationale: World Suicide Prevention Day is marked globally on September 10 each year. The international theme for 2012 is "Suicide Prevention across the Globe”. It is more than a day about suicide prevention. It is a day to celebrate life, to remind everyone why we should all value our lives as people, and “We need to encourage each other that anything is possible, that the darkest of times never last, and to remember that there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

Highlights of Event
• Mr. Mahesh CEO, Makro Group  gave the objective of the program, talked  about the helpdesk, its focus area, and its services. Till now around 4000 calls have been received. 
• Mr. Deepak Bhattacharjee, Vice District Governor LIONS Club  congratulated the organisors and said next year onwards we could collaborate in bigger ways by involving LIONs club members also.
• Followed by address by Mr. Tamma Reddy Bharadwaj, President, Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber   Of Commerce.
• Mr. Govardhan Reddy Assistant Police Commissioner of Police spoke about the Stress and its impact and also stressed people to come out of it by taking positive steps.
• Followed by address of Mr. Sri Sai, Gemini TV and  Mr Vijay R. Annapa Reddy spoke on the occasion about Suicide and its impact and asked the youth to seek help if depressed, to find solutions to any problem rather than attempting suicide.
• Earlier Ms. Aparna G, Manager--- Makro Foundation talked about objective of helplin
• The 2 K Walk started after flagging off the rally by Mr. Tamma Reddy Bharadwaj and Mr. Govardhan Reddy along with other dignitaries.
• The walk started from IT Raheja Park gate towards Inrobit Mall and back to the IT Raheja gate circle.
